Dr. Eva Harvell has spent 24 years in K-12 education, moving from the elementary classroom to district technology director and now into consulting, speaking, and higher education. That full arc of experience is what makes her work resonate with the educators and leaders she serves.
Dr. Harvell has been a member of the Pascagoula-Gautier School District team since 2002, serving as Director of Technology since 2015. Beginning fall 2026, she will also serve as Adjunct Faculty at William Carey University, bringing both practitioner and academic perspectives to the most pressing challenges facing schools today.
Her contributions to the field have been recognized with the Tech&Learning Innovative Leader Award (March 2026) and the Mississippi Educational Computing Association's Administrator of the Year Award (2021). She is a 2026 EdSafe AI Vanguard Fellow, an ISTE+ASCD GenerationAI Educator Fellow, and a Research Fellow for the Mississippi AI Collaborative, where she explores the evolving role of artificial intelligence in K-12 education. She also served on the Mississippi Department of Education's Technology Advisory Committee from 2018 to 2022.
Dr. Harvell is a published author whose writing appears in District Administration, Tech&Learning, Education Technology Insights, and EdSurge. She speaks regularly at state and regional conferences on AI integration, digital citizenship, and technology leadership.
Dr. Harvell holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from William Carey University, and an Ed.S. in Administration and a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.
